About Sandra Lee

Hi, my name is Sandra Lee Chandler, and I’d love to share a little about myself and my work with you! Born in Los Angeles and raised in Orange County, California, I recently embraced a new chapter by moving to Nashville, TN, in 2023.

I’m thrilled by the change of seasons and the personal growth it has brought me as I live my authentic, creative life. My quilting journey began over 30 years ago and has been inspired by countless fabrics, techniques, and people I’ve met. I hold a B.S. in Clothing, Textiles, and Design from Arizona State University and embarked on my teaching career 38 years ago at Santa Ana Community College.

These days, I enjoy teaching a weekly virtual quilting class through Saddleback Community College, connecting with students from all walks of life. I’ve been honored to teach and present at numerous high-profile events, including: -

  • Quilt Canada** (2022)- Stitches at Home** (2022)
  • Stitches West** (2022)- Quiltcon** (2019 & 2021)
  • Craft Napa** (2019 & 2021)
  • Squam** (2021)
  • Festival of Quilts** in England (2018)

My work has also been featured in a variety of magazines, such as:

  • Threads* (2021)- Quilt Now* (2020)
  • Sew Magazine* (2020)
  • American Quilt Magazine* (2020)
  • Quiltfolk* (2019)
  • Numerous appearances in *Simply Moderne
  • Altered Couture
  • Haute Handbags*, and *Apron-ology

I've also had the opportunity to appear on *The Quilt Show* and *Quilting Arts*, which have launched my career to new heights.

I’m best known for my repurposed denim quilts, wearable art quilted garments, and unique workshops and lectures.

I love transforming recycled denim, yarns, dyed fabrics, and stamped designs into pieces beyond ordinary quilting.
