Handcrafted Denim Quilts Lecture

You will see over 20 quilts that I’ve made using repurposed denim clothes and fabric. Many of the quilts you will see were hand quilted using the big stitch method.

Sandra's Quilting Journey Lecture

You will be introduced to a Quilt Collection from some very amazing, innovative African American Quilters.  You will hear excerpts from their stories and the impact they made in the quilting world.

Wearable Art Lecture

Wearable art can be an outward unique extension of your fashion creativity and individual style.  You can use a variety of textiles  to create your masterpieces. We’ll talk about how you can create wearable items of your own.

Sashiko Stitching              Workshop        

1 day 6 hrs beginner

This workshop is designed to teach the basics of Sashiko stitches. In this class you will learn the basic Sashiko  stitching method. Time to learn how to hold and sew with short & long needles, while using your favorite thimble.

Womens Jacket Workshop    

1 day 6 hrs/beginning

Come learn how to sew a custom bomber jacket in this one-day workshop. We will cover sewing machine basics. In class you will learn how to sew in a zipper.

Maggie’s Squares Quilt       Workshop

In this workshop you will learn to deconstruct an old pair of your denim jeans to reconstruct them into a beautiful one-of-kind denim quilt. We will walkthrough how to open the jeans to remove the pockets, zippers, labels all while keeping your favorite stains and rips to add character.

Spinning Wheel Denim Quilt Workshop

In this workshop you will learn about the history of denim and which denim is the most optimal to use for quilting.  You'll learn how to deconstruct your denim jeans and how to work with curves using your deconstructed denim to make a fun and easy quilt.

New Orleans Peel Denim Quilt Workshop

It's time to deconstruct your jeans into a beautiful quilt. Durning this workshop you will enjoy the freedom gained by using shades of blue to create this amazing quilt.

Did you attend my Wearable Art lecture?Then you learned how wearable art can be anything in the eye of the beholder.  In this workshop, you will grab your favorite quilt and adornments and put what you learned in the Wearable Art lecture to use as you make your Quilt Blazer.

West African Indigo Dyeing
Workshop

Come join me on a journey where you will discover the traditional Yoruba techniques of Batilk, Adire Eleko and Tie-Dye. We will explore the West African country of Nigeria’s history of indigo and the meaning behind the many of the designs. Discover the process of creating designs using wax as a resist. To produce a pattern, we will use a wood block stamp, stencil, and by hand. Once you learn the resist technique, we will go over the process of preparing the cotton fabrics for the dying process. The next step is to prepare the indigo vat and then dip the fabrics in the vat. The workshop concludes with the dying process of the whole fabric pieces. I love all things blue and this workshop is a must.

Mens Jacket  Workshop

2 day 6 hrs each day/intermediate

In this workshop you will be introduced to using a quilt to create a jacket.  You will work with the fabric of your choice such as linen, cotton, or chambray to create your stylish jacket with vintage and modern flare.
