Help I need to sell! Are there days when you feel like the world is just coming in on you. And there’s nothing you can do right. You try your best but it seems like everything just fails. In those moments I always revert back to my go to.
Sewing is where I go when life is just not going my way. When I need a little break from everything. As you can see in the above slide show I love fabric, I love color, I love the textures of fabric, I love the feel of fabric. Fabric makes me happy. Some people love food, dancing, TV, Game shows, but I love fabric. Working with fabric brings me joy it also allows me the time I need to figure out many of life’s complex decisions.
In this week I hope you are able to go to your happy space and do what brings you comfort. I know that I will be selling at sometime someplace during this next week.
In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard may voice; my cry come before him, into his ears Psalm 18:6
Proximity is one of the five basic principles of design. How close or how far or in wet alignment are the elements you’re working with arranged in your design? Are you thinking about proximity? By grouping similar elements together or in a close proximity, you create a relationship between those elements. Proximity also works with providing a focal point we’re giving the reader an idea of where they should focus their attention.
When I am creating I understand the proximity doesn’t mean at the elements have to be placed together, it means they should be visually connected in someway. I can use size, fabric colors, or shapes. The following picture as an example of proximity.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 1 Timothy 1:12
So following up on the 5 basic principles of design. Contrast allows you to emphasize or highlight elements within a design. So when you have 2 elements that are totally opposite you have created contrasts. This can be achieved in many different ways. Big, small, shapes, colors, light or dark.
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8
It’s Friday and I’m so glad to be able to sit down and talk about where I get my faith and hope from. For me my faith comes from knowing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. And that one day he will come back at the end of this world and we all as believers will be united as one. My hope it is built on nothing less then the whole Bible.
The faith I have in my ability to create comes from above. As I’m look towards the coming months and years I ask myself what do you hope for? Are you hope full that you’ll be able to continue creating beautiful pieces of art? I’m hopeful that the rest of my days I will be able to share the love I have for my family and friends and the belief that I’ve been saved I will be reunited one day with Family that has passed away and gone to heaven.
Here are a few of my creations that were inspired by my heavenly Father.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurection of Jesus Christ from the dead 1 Peter 1:3
It’s Monday morning. And it’s time for me to create. For some of you living is not really living unless you can sew. I’m still thinking about the five basic principles of design. In my last post I spoke about alignment. It you did not read that post let me tell you a bit about alignment. Alignment creates a sharp, or more ordered design.
Repetition strengtens a design by tying together multiple individual elements. The consistent repetition of an element like color, shape. or texture and set a project apart.
In this quilt that I have created the repetition in the word FREEDOM is the repetition. Also I’ve created repetition in the color scheme. In the background of this quilt I use red fabrics. For the lettering I use a variety of black fabrics. So in this quilt there are two repetitions. The two repetitions are; color, pattern.
In your next design to enhance your creativity and target the audience you would like to with your creativity.
The thief come only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
So what does the power of design mean to you. When I think back to my college years I can remember a class where we talked about the five basic principles of design. Good design and talking about good design you must start with the understanding of the basics. When are you understand the basics of design it will help you avoid designing disasters key themes in your artwork.
What does alignment do or how can use it when designing a quilt top? Alignment elements allowed you as the creator to create a visual connection with other elements. Have you ever worked with quote blocks that you created of your quilt top design? Alignment helps you to place you’re quilt blocks ending order to reduce the messy effect you could encounter.
Here is an example of random piecing set into blocks which are pieced to create an allover pattern.
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sim might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin – Romans 6:6
How many times have you told yourself I would do that task someday. For me this Sunday is something I use for hanging out with my friends. I will put it off meeting with a girlfriend over a couple coffee or a quick lunch to continue creating in my studio.
But I have decided that every great artist needs time off. So when a group of ladies from my church planned a trip on the Amtrak train to San Diego I signed up. It was amazing to be create greatness I just spending time with an amazing group of women. I’m so glad I decided to step out of my studio and into the world around me. I challenge you to step out and step in two an amazing experience when you decide to hang out with some of your friends and family.
So throughout the day I was inspired by architecture, jewelry, and everything else I was exposed to. Here are few of the pictures of the items that inspired me.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you really know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him an have seen him.” John 14:6
