Friday Fun – Quilts to cover your bones

So as I look over the large stacks of quilts I have accumulated. I have decided to create wearable art clothes using my vintage quilts. Many believe that quilts that are vintage should stay as they are. But I believe if I am an artist and truly want to expand my art I need to show others the beauty within the textile art world. So I have decided to use I few of my quilts to create clothing items.

In the same way that quilts are fashionable for your bed. Those same quilts can be fashionable for your body. Here below is an example I have a very stylish and hip bomber jacket.

We all have creativity within us. My open and encouraging teaching style allows my students the freedom to access their creativity and explore new ideas in a fun, friendly environment.
I offer positive feedback on students’ creative decisions and also on their developing skills. The technical processes of sewing and quilt construction take patience and time to learn. Solid skills can be achieved through practice over time, but they are just a small part of creating good art. Opening up to excitement and creativity can be achieved in just one class.
By the end of the first class, each student will be able to think creatively about how to express their life experiences through the projects they create. By sharing my own skills and know-how, I am able to help students give shape to their new ideas. Many times the teaching process has found me learning from my students and expanding my own creative experience.
I believe I can unlock the creative potential of every one of my students, and help each of them reach their creative goal. Now

Friday Fun – Who do you Follow?

Good morning all it’s Friday. Who do you follow is there particular designer, fabric manufacturer, or blog that you follow. I noticed that there’s no one particular person company or thing that I follow. For me I follow what my senses tell me I should do or create in any given day. For me my leading comes from God. When I wake up in the morning I always start out with a to do list. While looking over that to do list I get inspiration. From the inspiration I’ve been and guided towards a particular pattern, fabric, area of my studio in which I pull different items to start my creation.

So for you how do you create who do you follow? Here are a few of the inspiring patterns that I will be creating in the near future

Monday Sew – What are you Sewing

Looking over my to do list. It’s Monday morning and I’m inspired to create clothing items for my upcoming trips to Tennessee and the UK. When traveling to teaching I like to wear clothing that I have created. Today I sew not out of necessity but because I love to create clothing. I have many styles in which I enjoy wearing. When I go to the clothing stores many times I’m frustrated because I am unable to find clothing that fits me in the fabric that I would enjoy wearing.

So today and for the rest the remainder of 2018 I have decided to make all of my clothing. I started this venture the first day of 2018. As of today I have been successful in making all of my ready to wear clothing items. Here are a few of the items I have created thus far.

Stay tuned I had so much more to show you. I am jumping in all feet first in looking at vintage patterns. Fashion is what you make it and I plan to make it everything it can be and more….

When you what to make a great dress but you only have a few hours to do so in this is the pattern for you. I was able to make this dress just as the directions told me too. The sizing is good and I love the fact that you don’t even have to sew in a zipper.

What is Sashiko? It is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching
