I love collecting vintage patterns. This top was made from a pattern that was purchased back in the 70s. I love the black-and-white Color selection of the fabric. The top is made from traditional quilt pattern of half square triangles. I first made the half square triangles and then I sewed them together to create the black and white pattern for the top.

Looking over my to do list. It’s Monday morning and I’m inspired to create clothing items for my upcoming trips to Tennessee and the UK. When traveling to teaching I like to wear clothing that I have created. Today I sew not out of necessity but because I love to create clothing. I have many styles in which I enjoy wearing. When I go to the clothing stores many times I’m frustrated because I am unable to find clothing that fits me in the fabric that I would enjoy wearing.
So today and for the rest the remainder of 2018 I have decided to make all of my clothing. I started this venture the first day of 2018. As of today I have been successful in making all of my ready to wear clothing items. Here are a few of the items I have created thus far.
Stay tuned I had so much more to show you. I am jumping in all feet first in looking at vintage patterns. Fashion is what you make it and I plan to make it everything it can be and more….
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

So as I look over the large stacks of quilts I have accumulated. I have decided to create wearable art clothes using my vintage quilts. Many believe that quilts that are vintage should stay as they are. But I believe if I am an artist and truly want to expand my art I need to show others the beauty within the textile art world. So I have decided to use I few of my quilts to create clothing items.
In the same way that quilts are fashionable for your bed. Those same quilts can be fashionable for your body. Here below is an example I have a very stylish and hip bomber jacket.
If you would like to make a jacket for a completed quilt just go for it!
