Friday Fun – Improv Quilting

What is Improv Quilting?

For me it is when I am able to freely stitch fabric together without a pattern in mind.

One modern quilter Sherri Lynn Wood spoke to the subject and started a group in 2014. Here is what she said in her blog. “The purpose of Project Improv is to support each other in our goals to quilt improvisational, to quilt outside the lines and to find our own voice as a quilter.”

Here is my improv quilt made from Kokka echino fabrics from Japan. I purchased the fabric at Quilt Market in Houston 2016.
Here is a close up of one of the blocks. The imperfections are the beauty of improv quilting.

If you have time on your hands and fabrics you like, why don’t you try coming up with an improv quilt. Don’t overthink it! Just start sewing. Its fun and fast.

Don’t forget to tell me how you made out!

See you next Tuesday with “Tuesday Tips.”
