Tip Tuesday – Teaching Boys to Sew

IMG_1751IMG_1757IMG_1722IMG_1725

Tip Tuesday. When teaching children to sew I use 5 key concepts;

1. Teach concepts, not rules.

• Sewing Basics

• Stitches

• Layers

2. Work Together.

3. Use simple fabrics, supplies, and shapes.

• Fabrics

• Thread

• Stuffing

• Shapes

4.  Don’t underestimate your child’s abilities.

5. Be Patient.

The boys in the picture made backpacks from t-shirits they had out grown. We had fun and they were excited to learn to sew.
